Gord served as Chief Executive Officer of the Canadian Industrial Innovation Centre from 1988 to 1999. The Centre, a not-for-profit national centre, was dedicated to enhancing innovation in Canada by providing support for technology developers through critical assessments of inventions and market studies for potential new products. Gord has held other senior management positions at other technology oriented companies in a career that has spanned more than 30 years.Gord is a specialist in the development and commercialization of technology, and in market research related to new product and business opportunities. He has extensive experience in relationship management between government and non-government organizations
Gary is a results-oriented, technical generalist with extensive experience in high-technology enterprises and expertise in physical sciences, remote sensing and computer applications. He has proven strengths in project management, technology transfer, problem solving, technical writing, and the implementation of practical and creative solutions. Gary has a B.Sc. (Physics & Chemistry), Ph.D. (Surface Physics) from York University and has been the recipient of many prestigious awards.
Gary's wealth of experience obtained over the past 30 years has enabled him to play a key role in a number of Vertex initiatives. In addition, Gary's strong technical writing capabilities have enabled him to play a major role in the development, editing and production of "The Vertex Angle", as well as the development and management of the Vertex website.
Jason Floyd is an experienced IT professional with proven skills in application development and system administration. He is experienced and knowledgeable on intellectual property business related issues. Jason has an Honours B.Sc. in computer science from York University and is the recipient of a number of academic and professional awards.
He began his career at IBM where he gained extensive experience with Lotus Notes and Domino systems. Jason left IBM and subsequently formed his own company in early 2001 to provide customized software services to business and government clients. He has contributed to a number of Vertex assignments, including the development of an intellectual asset management software system designed to assist Vertex clients track and manage their intellectual assets.
Paul is the President of Intellectual Assets, Inc., a professional services company focused on ensuring clients create and obtain maximum value from their intellectual property. He was previously Chief Operating Officer for Aurigin Systems, Inc. where he focused on the commercialization of the company's intellectual asset management software for the Competitive Intelligence, Licensing and R&D communities. Prior to joining Aurigin in 1998, Paul served as Vice President, Corporate Research for Avery Dennison where he directed its Corporate Research Center.
Paul holds an undergraduate degree and a Ph.D. in Chemistry from the University of California and an L.L.B. from La Salle University in Chicago.
Paul is Past Chairman of the Board of the Industrial Research Institute, an organization of approximately 300 Chief Technology Officers whose organizations account for over 70% of all U.S. industrial R&D spending. He is also a member of the Board of Trustees and an instructor for the Licensing Executives Society (U.S.A. & Canada), a professional society comprised of over 5,500 members who are involved in the transfer, use, development, manufacture and marketing of intellectual property.
Paul holds 10 U.S. patents, 12 foreign counterparts, contributing author to two books, and author of over a dozen refereed articles.
Steve has an accomplished career in early stage commercialization and business development. He has over thirty years experience in technology due diligence, technical and consumer market research, competitive intelligence, project management, business start-up issues and early stage funding.
As a founder and Director of Axiomatic Research Corporation, he undertakes specialized assignments in technology assessment, product development, competitive intelligence, market research and related areas. He also serves as one of the Directors of The Harbinger Ventures Group, an early-stage venture capital firm. In addition, Steve is a Technical Advisor for an SRED consultancy organization, The Empyrean Group.
From 1994 to 2002, Steve was with the National Research Council of Canada's Industrial Research Assistance Program (IRAP). Steve holds a Bachelor in Technology (Applied Chemistry) from Ryerson Polytechnical Institute, a Diploma in Chemical Engineering Technology from St. Lawrence College and is a Certified New Product Development Professional.
Dr. Inge Hansson is the founder of Hansson Technology Management, a sole proprietorship company. Hansson Technology Management is an executive management and international technology management consulting company with associates in most parts of the world. Activities include executive management services, coaching of CEOs and Presidents, organizational restructurings, technology assessments, technology licensing and transfer, technology funding and capitalization. Additionally, Inge supplies a number of start-up and entrepreneurial companies with strategic planning, technology assessment and management services.
Prior to forming Hansson Technology Management, Inge was Vice President, Technology, and Chief Technical Officer of Emtech Ltd. and President & CEO of Emtech Technology Centre Inc., of Mississauga, Ontario and prior to that Research Director of Alcan International Limited's Kingston Research and Development Centre.
Educated in Sweden, Dr. Hansson obtained the highest possible Swedish academic qualification, Docent (Engineering Physics). He is fluent in English, Danish and Swedish, speaks some German and understands some French. Inge has published over fifty papers in international journals and at international conferences on a broad spectrum of Sciences & Engineering related topics and is or has been a member of numerous professional societies and has held a number of committee and board appointments.

Ray Kolynchuk is President of Global Target Marketing Corp., the marketing research and strategic business counsel firm that he founded. The company has an active portfolio with a mix of clients in Canada and the United States.
Ray is a specialist in strategy and customer value research and has many years of experience in designing and using survey research as a strategic decision making tool. He has completed more than 400 market research and consulting studies for clients such as major retailers and manufacturers of consumer and industrial products. Ray is well regarded for supplementing standard research designs to obtain key competitive market insights.
Ray has an Honours Bachelor of Commerce from Laurentian University and a MBA from the University of Windsor. Ray is a frequent speaker on competitive intelligence topics and a guest lecturer on market research at Humber, George Brown and Seneca colleges.
Ray's experience with Customer Relationship Management software and systems has made Ray a valuable contributor to a number of Vertex assignments, in particular in the CRM and software fields.
Gary Svoboda is President of Adventus Research, a full-service market research firm located in Guelph, Ontario. Prior to launching Adventus Research, Gary held various positions at CIC Innovation Consultants Inc., and its sister company, the Canadian Innovation Centre.
Gary specializes in consulting in the areas of new product application identification and innovation-related market research for industrial products. He has extensive experience that includes conducting market research into a wide range of industries. Gary's research skills and expertise includes both quantitative and qualitative survey research design, focus group moderation, competitive intelligence, and industry forecasting.
Gary has a B.A.Sc. in Electrical Engineering from the University of Toronto, and an MBA from the University of Western Ontario. He is a member of the Professional Marketing Research Society (PMRS), the Business Research and Marketing Association (BRMA), and the Society of Competitive Intelligence Professionals (SCIP). Gary has made numerous presentations and written articles on the subjects of innovation marketing and technology transfer.

Gord Thomson is a Professional Engineer, lawyer and Registered Trade-mark Agent whom operates a sole practitioner legal practice in Ottawa. Gord's practice is restricted to intellectual property issues.
Gord obtained his B.Eng. (Civil) from R.M.C. in 1977. After 5 years in the Canadian Army as an Ordnance Engineer he joined Ontario Hydro's Nuclear Generation Division in 1982 working in nuclear safety and occupational health and safety.
Gord obtained his B.Eng. (Civil) from R.M.C. in 1977. After graduation Gord spent 5 years in the Canadian Army as an Ordnance Engineer and 8 years in industry. Gord graduated from the University of Ottawa Law School in 1992. After 5 years with a prominent IP law firm, he established his own practice in 1997. Gord is a member of several associations including: The Canadian Society of Engineering Management where he is is currently serving as President, the Licensing Executives Society and International Trade-mark Association. He has published several articles on the subject of IP in Engineering Dimensions Magazine, has lectured frequently on IP issues and has taught IP law.
